What is the combine harvester used for and how?

We cannot imagine modern agricultural machines without a combine harvester. When it comes to agricultural machinery names in the farming sector a Combine is the second-largest and heaviest machine after a tractor. Different types of machines are used at various steps in farming from ploughing to harvesting to facilitate and simplify the farming processes. The harvesting process is one of the most crucial, time taking and complex task of all. Harvesting needs to be done very carefully on grain farms, as any kind of fault in the process can cause the loss of the grains.

Since the introduction of the combine harvester, grain farmers can harvest their crops on time and in a fast manner. Combines are multi-tasking machines that help boost harvesting efficiency and enhance convenience for farmers. The machine executes three main steps of harvesting that are cop cutting, threshing and then getting clean grains from the stack.

A multi-crop harvester can harvest various types of grain crops. Different detachable heads of a combine machine are designed for the various types of crops.

How it works

The large header at the front of the combine harvester collects the crops. The reel moves it forward to the cutter bar, where it is sliced off. The grain then moves towards a conveyor to the threshing drum, where grains and stalks get separated. The grain is collected in a tank from sieves and straw walkers through the chaff on the field from the harvester. Once the grain tank fills, it needs to be emptied into a tractor-trailer via a side pipe known as an unloader. The chaff is either baled up for different purposes or spread out over the field.
